Are Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies a good pet?

What are Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies Personality and Temperament like?

Big, powerful, and built for hard work, the Bernese Mountain Dog is also strikingly beautiful and blessed with a sweet, affectionate nature. Berners are generally laid back but are always up for a romp with the owner, whom they live to please. The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large, sturdy dog who can stand over 27 inches at the shoulder.

Are Bernese Mountain Dogs good pets for families with kids?

Berners get along with the entire family and are particularly gentle with children, but they will often become more attached to one lucky human. Berners are imposing but not threatening, and they maintain an aloof dignity with strangers.

What is the Lifespan of Bernese Mountain Dogs

Berners are generally healthy dogs, and responsible breeders will screen their breeding stock for the various breed related health conditions. The average expected lifespan of a Bernese Mountain Dog is 9-12 years.

Bernese Mountain Dogs Grooming and Care Best Practices

The Bernese Mountain Dog has a double coat, with a longer outer coat and a wooly undercoat. Berners shed a fair amount, even more so during shedding season, which occurs twice a year. Weekly brushing (daily during shedding season) will help to remove loose hair and keep the dog looking their best. Early socialization and obedience training are important for all dogs, but especially so for breeds as large as the Bernese Mountain Dog. Berners are intelligent and eager to please, so they are usually easy to train.

-Picking A Puppy-

Puppy reservations are made in order that deposits are received. If deposits are placed before the puppies have reached seven weeks old we hold your pick and will contact the client again at seven weeks to then make your selection. We take pride in assisting with matching the perfect puppy with your family. Picks can be carried over to another litter if a current puppy is not a match for your family. Deposits on carried over picks and reservations made after seven weeks are nonrefundable.

Our puppies will come home with a puppy packet that includes the following: A written guarantee for one year on hips and genetic defects. AKC registration paperwork. All shots and deworming records. A clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian. A small bag of puppy food and and feeding information.

We also include a toy that has been played with by the puppy and their littermates. The scent of the littermates helps the puppy to adjust more comfortably to their new surroundings.

All pet puppies will be sold with limited registration unless otherwise discussed with the breeder. Limited registration means that the dog is registered but no litters born from that dog are eligible for registration. It is eligible to be entered into any AKC show event. Limited registration can be changed to full registration only by the original litter owner.
